Today's professional landscape is evolving faster than ever before, demanding not only a broader range of technical competencies but also stronger adaptive thinking and problem-solving skills. As industries become increasingly competitive and strategic demands continue to grow, professionals are expected to respond quickly to challenges, even when working with limited manpower or resources.

As a result, many people believe that being able to handle multiple responsibilities independently—or becoming a "one-man army" or "super man"—is the most efficient way to succeed.

While being versatile and capable of working independently is certainly an advantage, relying solely on yourself over the long term is far from sustainable, fellow UNDIRA students. As the saying goes, "Teamwork makes the dream work." Lasting success is rarely achieved alone.

Working independently can indeed be effective, especially during the early stages of building something from the ground up. However, continuously carrying every responsibility alone eventually becomes overwhelming and significantly increases the risk of burnout. When workloads continue to expand, even the most capable individuals have their limits. Without collaboration, projects become more difficult to sustain, and personal productivity gradually declines.

Moreover, in professions and activities that rely heavily on creativity and innovation, adopting a one-man army mindset can limit growth by trapping individuals within their own perspectives. New ideas, constructive feedback, and diverse viewpoints are often born through meaningful communication and collaboration within a supportive team environment.

This very perspective was shared by renowned entrepreneur Mr. Fajar Surya Budiman, S.E., C.EP., during one of the presentation sessions at the 9th Table Manner Program organized by the Communication Studies Program of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) on July 4, 2026.

During his presentation, he emphasized that achieving success requires far more than personal credibility and intelligence. Equally important is the ability to inspire, unite, and empower others to build what he describes as a super team.

"As we move into an increasingly dynamic era, we all aspire to achieve success, don't we? But success cannot be accomplished alone. As human beings, we all have limitations—we are not perfect. There are many graduates with cum laude GPAs and exceptional technical skills, yet some still struggle to earn the trust needed to advance further. True success belongs to those who can build strong teams, foster collaboration, and cultivate a shared passion for continuous learning without allowing ego to stand in the way," he explained.

He further added, "In today's workplace, organizations need colleagues and fresh graduates who possess not only multitasking abilities but also strong communication and language skills. These qualities distinguish individuals who can adapt easily and collaborate effectively within a team. Companies are no longer looking solely for intelligence; they also place great value on social skills and the ability to work well with others."

The concept of a super team extends beyond the professional workplace and is equally relevant within academia. Universities are increasingly encouraged to cultivate collaborative learning, interdisciplinary research, and knowledge-sharing among students, lecturers, and researchers. This philosophy is also deeply aligned with Indonesia's Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which promotes not only academic excellence but also collaboration in advancing education, research, and community service for the benefit of society.

Ultimately, success—whether in the professional world or in academia, is not determined by who shines the brightest individually, but by how effectively individuals complement one another within a cohesive team.

Through the valuable insights shared by Mr. Fajar Surya Budiman, S.E., C.EP. during the Table Manner Program of the Communication Studies Program at UNDIRA, it is hoped that every UNDIRA student will strive to become not only highly competent in their work but also capable of building and contributing to a strong super team.
