Jakarta, June 17, 2026 – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LRPM) of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) organized a program entitled “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Registration Assistance as an Effort to Commercialize Research and Community Service Outcomes in 2026,” held online via Google Meet on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The program represents one of LRPM UNDIRA’s strategic initiatives to enhance research and community service (PkM) outputs through intellectual property protection. In addition, the activity aimed to improve lecturers’ understanding of the IPR registration process and encourage the commercialization of research and community service outcomes so that they may generate greater added value and broader societal benefits.

The event was officially opened by Dr. Kup Yanto Setiono, M.A., Director of LRPM Universitas Dian Nusantara. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of intellectual property protection as a form of appreciation for lecturers’ innovative works, as well as a strategic measure to improve the quality and competitiveness of higher education tridharma outputs.

“Intellectual Property Rights are not only an instrument for protecting lecturers’ works and innovations, but also an essential component of efforts to commercialize research and community service outcomes,” said Dr. Kup Yanto Setiono, M.A., on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The keynote speaker for the event was Syah Alam, S.Pd., M.T., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Trisakti University. During his presentation, he explained various important aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, including the different types of IPR, registration procedures, document requirements, and strategies for preparing IPR application documents.

“Intellectual Property Rights serve not only as legal protection for a work but also as an important step in enhancing the added value and commercialization potential of research and community service outcomes. Therefore, lecturers need to understand the IPR application process and requirements to ensure that their works are properly protected and optimally utilized,” stated Syah Alam, S.Pd., M.T., Ph.D., during his presentation on Friday, June 12, 2026.

He further emphasized that IPR provides not only legal certainty for intellectual works and innovations resulting from research and community service activities, but also broader opportunities for their utilization and development.

“IPR serves as a bridge between research outcomes and their application in society. Once a work has obtained legal protection, opportunities for further development, commercialization, and wider utilization become increasingly accessible. Therefore, IPR registration should be an integral part of the commercialization strategy for research and community service outcomes,” he explained.

The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Registration Assistance Program as an Effort to Commercialize Research and Community Service Outcomes in 2026 was attended by 54 lecturers from Universitas Dian Nusantara, representing the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics as well as the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm, as reflected in the high level of engagement during the interactive discussion and question-and-answer sessions.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Kup Yanto Setiono, M.A., who expressed his appreciation to the speaker and all participants for their active involvement throughout the program. He expressed hope that the assistance program would serve as an initial step toward increasing both the quantity and quality of IPR outputs related to the commercialization of research and community service activities within Universitas Dian Nusantara.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the speaker and all lecturers who actively participated in this program. We hope that this assistance initiative will not stop at the stage of understanding alone but will be followed by the submission of various IPR applications derived from research and community service activities conducted by Universitas Dian Nusantara lecturers. In this way, the culture of innovation, intellectual property protection, and the commercialization of tridharma outcomes can continue to grow and flourish within our university environment,” he concluded.

Through this program, LRPM UNDIRA hopes to encourage more lecturers to register their works, innovations, and research and community service outputs under Intellectual Property Rights protection. As a result, the university’s tridharma achievements will not only contribute to academic advancement but also gain legal protection and greater potential for commercialization and societal impact.
