Strengthening the Literacy Ecosystem and Academic Services: UNDIRA Library and YARSI University Library Hold a Benchmarking Discussion

Jakarta, July 17, 2026 – As part of its commitment to enhancing academic services and fostering a stronger culture of literacy across campus, the Library of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) held an official meeting and benchmarking discussion with the Library of YARSI University on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

According to the Head of the UNDIRA Library Bureau, Rengga Sendrian, M.Hum., the initiative represents a strategic first step toward strengthening collaboration between the two university libraries. He explained that the partnership is expected to lay the foundation for greater alignment not only in library information systems but also in service quality and operational practices.

The benchmarking session, held at the YARSI University Library meeting room, began with remarks from Zuhri, Amd., Staff for Book and E-Book Management at the YARSI University Library. He emphasized that modern library management extends far beyond maintaining physical and digital collections. Instead, success depends on how effectively libraries present and deliver their available resources to users through clear, accessible, and engaging services.

"As we continue to modernize library services and circulation systems, our focus should not only be on preserving collections but also on encouraging visitors to fully utilize digital resources such as e-books through interactive and user-friendly accessibility. This can be achieved by leveraging artificial intelligence and integrated database systems," he explained.

Zuhri also introduced the idea of expanding inter-university collaboration through resource sharing and collection management supported by digital catalogs such as OpenAlex and ProQuest. Responding to the proposal, Rengga Sendrian highlighted an alternative approach that not only offers a broader range of collections—including encyclopedias, scholarly publications, and cultural manuscripts—but also provides a more intuitive and user-friendly experience for library users.

The discussion further explored the management of Turnitin, the plagiarism detection platform that has become an essential academic tool for students preparing final projects and undergraduate theses. Both institutions exchanged insights on improving the administration of the platform, particularly regarding the integration of plagiarism-checking services with their respective internal academic systems to create a more seamless user experience.

Beyond collection management and circulation services, the benchmarking session also focused on the implementation of the Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS), which serves as the backbone of daily library operations at both universities. The exchange of best practices covered system administration, digital catalog management, and strategies for improving operational efficiency through technology.

To conclude the benchmarking session, the YARSI University Library, led by Indah Kurnianingsih, S.IP., M.P., Head of the YARSI Library Bureau, invited the UNDIRA delegation to participate in a campus tour showcasing several of the library's supporting facilities, including its podcast studio and dedicated reading booths.
