Jakarta, June 17, 2026 — Renowned for its strong academic traditions and its ability to maintain cultural harmony across generations, Japan is often regarded as an ideal example of a balanced and progressive nation. Given these qualities, it is unsurprising that many members of Generation Z consider the Land of the Rising Sun a preferred destination for their future education and career aspirations.

In line with this perspective and as part of its commitment to strengthening academic collaboration, the English Literature Study Program of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA), in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Informatics, and Communication Science Study Programs, conducted an educational visit to the Embassy of Japan on June 15, 2026.

During the visit, 77 students and four lecturers from UNDIRA had the opportunity to gain comprehensive insights into the scholarship programs offered by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), commonly known as the Monbukagakusho MEXT Scholarship. This program reflects the Japanese government's strong commitment to supporting international students who wish to pursue master's and doctoral degrees in Japan.

During one of the question-and-answer sessions, several students enthusiastically raised questions regarding the application process for the Monbukagakusho MEXT Scholarship, as well as Japanese culture and various aspects of daily life in Japan that prospective international students should understand.

Mr. Todo Sibueya Faraday, Head of the English Literature Study Program at UNDIRA, stated that the visit served as an important opportunity for students to explore real-world opportunities beyond the classroom.

“This visit to the Embassy of Japan was far more than a ceremonial activity. It provided our students with valuable insights into tangible opportunities they can pursue, particularly through the Monbukagakusho MEXT Scholarship program. We hope that interdisciplinary collaborations such as this will continue to grow stronger, as language proficiency and cross-cultural understanding are not exclusive to English Literature students but are equally relevant across all fields of study, from engineering to communication sciences,” he said.

Responding to Mr. Todo’s remarks, a representative of the Embassy of Japan emphasized that both the Embassy and the Japanese government remain committed to providing opportunities for international students and professionals who wish to pursue their academic and professional journeys in Japan.

The educational visit concluded on a highly positive note, inspiring both students and lecturers of UNDIRA. The program reaffirmed the university’s commitment to creating broader international opportunities for its academic community and supporting the development of global perspectives and career pathways.
